COLWYN Bay have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Jack Higgins.

The Seagulls’ swooped for the forward in the wake of a squad exodus at Prestatyn Town following the resignation of Neil Gibson, which has seen all of their title-winning squad depart over the last week.

Craig Hogg has suffered some considerable squad losses of his own as players seek regular competitive football either in the JD Cymru Premier or in England as coronavirus restrictions continue to frustrate clubs across the country in Tier 2 and below.

Higgins is a two-time championship winner at Prestatyn and has also enjoyed spells at Flint Town United and in the United States of America.

Hogg, said: "Jack impressed me a lot during the last campaign, with some excellent performances against the Bay and others in Tier 2.

"He is a combative, very hard-working number nine, but is a player who goes under the radar for his link-up play and his ability to convert chances. We witnessed a lot of that first-hand last season.

“At nearly 29 he has had some brilliant footballing experiences and success and he has worked with a top management team in Neil Gibson and Lee Jones at Prestatyn.

"If Jack can bring all that with him to Llanelian Road, then I feel he will really add to the excellent group of players we still have at the club, along with those players who are currently away and looking to return in the near future.

"Jack will be formally introduced to the squad once local lockdowns have finished and allow for us to train together. I am really looking forward to seeing him play in the claret and blue when we do eventually get our season underway."

Higgins is no stranger to the Four Crosses Arena having netted Prestatyn’s winner against the Bay last season, but he is looking forward to the challenge of getting the club into the top-flight whenever competitive action is permitted to resume.

"It is a massive club with a big fan base, and I know it is a big challenge for me,” he added.

"I have a lot of experience in the Welsh Leagues and hopefully I can bring that along with goals and a winning mentality to help the club achieve our targets.”
