GEORGE Mannion has become the latest to depart Colwyn Bay in the search for regular football.

The Seagulls’ signed the talented full-back earlier this summer ahead of their expected JD Cymru North promotion bid, but with the chances of competitive action getting underway getting more unlikely with every passing day, Mannion has opted to move on in favour of a move to North West Counties League side Ashton Athletic.

The 24-year-old has also represented Chester, Northwich Victoria, Prescot Cables and Glossop North End as well as having a spell playing in Australia during a standout young career to date.

He follows in the footsteps of Sam Hart and former Bay skipper Tom McCready in moving on in pursuit of football in leagues which are permitted to do so under social distancing guidelines.

Manager Craig Hogg, said: “Manny has really impressed us all during pre-season and we were very much looking forward to seeing him in action for the club.

"It is pretty evident that (with the national health and lockdown picture) we won't be playing any league football this side of Christmas at Tier 2 in Wales and obviously that means players are moving on to where they can start playing again.

"He is another player who we fully support with a decision to go and play competitive football somewhere else and we all wish him well. I really hope to see him in a Bay shirt in the near future."
