LLANDUDNO’s latest friendly fixture in readiness for the potential JD Cymru North season getting the green light saw them secure an emphatic 8-0 win over Llanfairfechan Town.

Sean Eardley’s side are among those clubs in the region becoming increasingly frustrated with a lack of competitive action due to coronavirus restrictions, but Tier 2 received a significant boost with the news that the Football Association of Wales have applied to Sport Wales for ‘elite athlete’ status in order for the campaign to begin in the not-too-distant future.

There is plenty of expectations at Maesdu Park following the appointment of Eardley, who joined after a hugely successful stint at Caernarfon Town in the JD Cymru Premier.

The new boss has been working tirelessly to build a solid squad capable of challenging for honours whenever it is possible to begin, and their talent was shown to full effect in a one-sided affair against lower league opposition.

Max Moore was the star of the show for Tudno, turning in a superb display of quality finishing on his way to a hat-trick.

Gifted youngster Aron Jones-Hughes also aided his side’s cause with a well-taken brace, with goals from Morgan Owen, Bryan Roberts and a Trialist completing the rout.

Preparations will undoubtedly be ramped up further at Llandudno once a formal start date is confirmed by the governing body, with the club boasting big plans for the future following the arrival of chairman Andrew Croston.
