COLWYN Bay made another useful addition to their squad in the form of Connor Heath.

The JD Cymru North promotion hopefuls secured the services of the gifted young forward on a short-term deal from Nantwich Town, with the prospect of play across the border looking increasingly bleak due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Heath began in fledgling career as a member of the prestigious Crewe Alexandra Academy, which has produced a host of exceptional talents over the year who have gone to the very top.

The player can operate either up-front or as an attacking midfielder, giving manager Craig Hogg plenty of options in the event their season does begin in the coming weeks despite the obvious concerns.

The 20-year-old joined Nantwich from Crewe in August and after some impressive performances he agreed to a dual-registration deal with National League North side Farsley Celtic in November.

Hogg, said: "Connor only turned 20 in December but his performances in the NPL Premier for Nantwich have been very good.

"He can operate as a striker or attacking midfielder and is a player we tried to bring to the club on loan from Crewe at the beginning of last year.

"That wasn't meant to be, but we have now been able to come to an arrangement with Nantwich and their manager Dave Cook for his services in the short term, and, of course, we are very grateful indeed for that.

"We look forward to Connor joining up with the squad and we hope to be in a position to offer all our lads the opportunity of playing football in the weeks ahead."

The Bay lost plenty of influential figures late last year as they went in search of regular football both in the JD Cymru Premier and in England, but they now have a squad littered with firepower that is more than capable of challenging for honours.
