WREXHAM ATHLETIC agonisingly missed out on a league and cup double after their North Wales Division Three Cup Final ended in a 20-20 draw at Colwyn Bay’s Stadiwm Eirias.

Kiyan Mckenzie-Moore scored Wrexham’s try with Jack Jones kicking 15 points but the cup went to Nant Conwy Thirds, who lifted the trophy courtesy of scoring one more try than their opponents.

Wrexham, who did end up lifting silverware on the day as they were presented with the league title, were on course for the double as they went 14-0 up.

But Nant never gave up and two tries from Guto Dafydd proved crucial with 10 points coming from the boot of Bedo Jones.

It turned out to be a great day for the Llanrwst-based Nant Conwy club, whose first team did secure the Division One double as they beat Pwllheli 39-21.

Caernarfon lifted the North Wales Women’s Cup after a 53-24 victory over Bala while in the Plate Final, Machynlleth beat Abergele 12-5.
