CARMEL & DISTRICT weren’t hanging about in their latest triumph!
The Division Two front-runners secured their eighth success of the summer in a nine-wicket outcome away to Denbigh Seconds.
Batting first, the home side managed to set 162 for five (Joe Threlfall 41 not out) from their 40 overs.
Ralf Fernando and Maneesha Nissanka bagged two wickets apiece for Carmel, who needed less than 23 overs to reach 163 for one. Buddhika Prasad led the way with a scintillating 105 not out in just 69 deliveries.
Marchwiel and Wrexham kept themselves in the promotion mix via a crucial three-wicket success away to Gwersyllt Park Seconds.
Ben Griffiths (77 not out) and Lee Beer (38) were the chief scorers in Park’s 190 for four.
Spear-headed by a superb 102 from Sam Heard Edwards, Marchwiel and Wrexham responded with 191 for seven. Skipper Sam Shoemark struck 35, while Beer kept Park’s hopes alive with his 5-21 return.
Pwllheli won by six wickets at Llanrwst and Brymbo Seconds were in excellent form to record a 140-run victory at Dolgellau.
Harri Davies (56) and Gareth Pugh (50 not out) helped Brymbo to reach 236 for eight, before Dolgellau were dismissed for 96 (Jack Bettis 4-20).
Llay Welfare’s long trek to Menai Bridge Seconds concluded in a four-wicket reverse.
Jacob Roberts top scored with 37 in Llay’s 165 for eight (Hari Williams 4-20) and Tomos Rees Jones then struck 54 in Bridge’s 166 for six (Dylan Honey 2-29).
St Asaph Seconds’ batsmen came to the fore in their 100-run triumph at home to Corwen, who were restricted for 195 for seven (Mark Wyeth 46, Harry Pooler 40). Earlier in the piece, openers Ankush Upadhyaya (103 not out) and Elliot Goddard (116) gave the Saints the ideal start in their 295 for five.
Division Three leaders Bersham held their nerve to get the better of Caernarfon by six wickets in their match-up. Noufal Khader (4-14) and Jijin Joseph (4-17) ensured Caernarfon were dismissed for 91, before Bersham responded with 96 for six (Monis Altaf 4-22).
It was also the bowlers to the fore as second-placed Mold Seconds grabbed an eight-wicket outcome at home to Connah’s Quay Seconds, who were all out for 76 (Hayden Millington 5-18, Thomas Garratt 4-15). David Graham’s unbeaten 42 led Mold to 79 for two.
In a close encounter, Pontblyddyn Seconds pipped Buckley Seconds by two wickets. Danny Peover (48) and Jon Whitnall (38) were the leading contributors in Buckley’s 145 all out (Christian Wrathall 3-24).
Hari Garikapogula top scored with 40 in Pontblyddyn’s 147 for eight (Vikneshwaran Priyatharshan 4-23).
Hawarden Park Seconds were defeated by six wickets in their home contest with Ruthin, while Halkyn Seconds impressed in their eight-wicket success versus Abergele Seconds.
Opener Sanjo Kuttan hit a superb 107 as Abergele got to 182 for four. However, it was to be Halkyn’s day, with Callum Ferguson (81 not out) and Jack Hawkins (32) helping them to 183 for two.
Elsewhere, Richard Lee Williams’ four for 16 return helped Bethesda Seconds to pip Conwy Seconds (Rory Gray-Thomas 4-17) by two wickets.
Turning to Division Four and it remains tight at the top.
Second-placed Northop Thirds were in terrific form to gather a 234-run success from their trip to Ruthin Seconds, who were all out for 58 (Sam Griffiths 3-13).
Earlier in the proceedings, Chris Brooks (75 not out), Tomas Bevan (73) and Ellis Williams (56) boosted Northop’s tally to 292 for four.
Brymbo Thirds have their sights set on promotion and their quest received a boost via a 10-wicket triumph at Carmel & District Seconds.
Rick Kirkham top scored with 33 in Carmel’s 108 (Luca Brooks 4-28), before Charlie Croasdale (71 not out) and Owain Pryce (32 not out) led Brymbo to 111 without loss.
In further action, Bala defeated Llandudno Seconds (Jake Sumbland 4-28) by four wickets thanks to a fine all-round showing from Jack White, who followed his 4-11 return by scoring 50 not out.
