BRYMBO put title rivals St Asaph in their place in the battle of the Premier Division title-chasers.

The Saints are now just a point clear of Brymbo, who powered their way to a 120-run victory at Elwy Grove Park.

St Asaph captain Will Ryan elected to field after winning the toss and it turned out to be the totally wrong decision.

Brymbo’s top scorer Chris Taylor led the run spree but he was run out four runs short of his century as Brymbo posted 306 for eight from their 50 overs.

Dikshant Vairagi added 55 while Sam Aplin (35) played his part in an opening 124-run partnership with the free-scoring Taylor.

Despite 77 from Mathew Ryan and Will Norman’s 47, the hosts slumped to 186 all out with Vairagi taking 3-28 while Dan Parry, Richard Deniz and Aplin all chipped in with two wickets apiece.

Mochdre and Menai Bridge still have an outside chance of finishing top after they both chalked up wins.

Mochdre’s Will Evans blasted a 70-ball unbeaten 107 in a nine-wicket win over rock-bottom Hawarden Park, who were all out for 183.

Jacob Duker was in great form for Park, carrying his bat for an unbeaten 91 as Adam Campion landed 4-19. But Mochdre eased home inside 24.5 overs.

Fourth-placed Menai were five-wicket winners at home to Denbigh, who put 221 for eight on the board.

Denbigh’s Andy Clarke joined the day’s centurion club with an unbeaten 112 with Matthew Jones taking four wickets.

Jack Gower then smashed 107 as the hosts reached 222 for five.

Mold slipped in the bottom two after they were skittled for just 52 in a 160-run battering at Bangor, who opened up with 212. Ian Noonan took 3-41 for Mold before Francois Mostert took centre stage with 6-14.

Gwersyllt Park are only two points off the drop zone after they lost by 101 runs at home to Northop.

Ikjot Thind was the star of the show with a stunning 215 not out in Northop’s 371 for three.

He put on 235 with Elliot Colclough (79) for the first wicket partnership while Sion Morris added 42.

Park gave it a good go with captain Jamie Griffiths (80 not out) and Kastun Stoute (52) their top scorers in a reply of 270 for eight.

Northop Hall clung on for a draw in their hard-fought Liverpool Competition Division One clash at home to Sefton Park.

Tom Hellen’s crucial 38 not out helped Hall to hang on with 179 for nine, after James Hurlin had top scored with 52. Huzaifa Zubair bagged five wickets for Sefton Park, who earlier set 219 for seven declared (Haroon Khan 71, Hurlin 4-75, Paul Jenkins 3-94).

Promotion rivals Colwyn Bay eased to a 98-run success at home to Spring View, while Chirk secured a seven-wicket win during their Shropshire League trip to Willey.

Matt Lawrenson claimed 5-40 as the hosts were dismissed for 145, before Andrew Swarbrick (57 not out) and Oliver Gough (53 not out) led Chirk to 149 for three.
