PUPILS of Yr Elen built a quarter-scale-size Viking longship at Ysgol Nant y Groes in Colwyn Bay.
It took them four days as part of their project on Leif Erikson, the Viking and first European to discover North America.

The longboat took the children four days to finish while they also learned about Leif Erikson, his heritage, his travels and about how to make a real Viking shield.
They were also treated to a Viking battle between their teachers, Mr Jackman and Mr Durkan, which ended in an exhausting draw.
Mr Jackman added: “Like Leif, they had many ups and downs but got there in the end.
"The ship, which was christened ‘Bret’s boat’ and was too big for the classroom, is to be either hung up in the school hall, put in the library, filled with history books, or sailed to America (as soon as it’s nice out!)”
