TWO friends who carried out a month-long fundraiser clocked up 842 miles and raised £3,591 for St David's Hospice.

Paul Williams, Llandudno Pier Manager, and builder Dean Seager, of D Seager Building and Plastering Contractors, exceeding their goal [to carry out a 400-mile cycle] and 'Dry February' challenge to raise much needed funds for the hospice.

Paul said: "We are overjoyed to announce we raised £3,591 for St David's Hospice.

"It was a tiring experience, having to do an average of 14 miles a day in all matter of weather conditions from rain, wind and freezing temperatures. Combined, we clocked up 842 miles - similar to riding from Llandudno to Lyon, France.

"We are however, extremely proud that we have  been able to raise so much for this great local charity.

"A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored us in February, especially the team on Llandudno Pier and the Victoria Social Club in Craig Y Don.

"Next year we're looking at cycling to Cardiff and back via the coast, with a few more participants."

The duo raised an incredible £2,150 last year when they cycled 300 miles and completed 'Dry February' in aid of St David's Hospice and Prostate Cancer UK.

St David’s Hospice is a charity close to Dean; his father was cared for in Llandudno and a member of his family also works for the hospice.

Shannon Kelly-Jones, challenge fundraiser at St David's Hospice, said: "Well done to Paul and Dean on raising an incredible £3,591."

Money raised is the equivalent of three new inpatient beds and 10 new nurses uniforms for the hospice.
