A LANDSLIDE caused a road in a Conwy village to be flooded and cleared yesterday evening (September 7).

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, North Wales Police and Welsh Government’s North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent attended the scene in the village of Llanfair Talhaiarn at around 5.25pm.

The landslide was caused by heavy rain, and one vehicle was temporarily stuck in a ditch before being helped out by emergency services.

The Highways Department soon cleared the road.

A North Wales Fire spokesperson said they had “assisted police with clearing the road which suffered flooding”.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “We’re aware that there was a landslide in Llanfair Talhaiarn last night due to the heavy rain, and although one traffic car did attend due to a vehicle temporarily being stuck in a ditch, we had no real involvement as Highways Dept closed and cleared the road.”

The Highways Department of the Welsh Government have been approached for comment.
