THE GARDEN of a well-known pub in Conwy town centre is to be transformed, after planning permission was secured.

The beer garden area at the George & Dragon, at 21 Castle Street, will see new timber clad seating booths, a central planter and festoon lighting installed.

The planning application, submitted by Stars Pubs and Bars, underwent several consultation stages, due to the site’s importance with regards to its heritage.

The George & Dragon occupies a Grade II listed building, which dates back to the mid-19th century, with an enclosed beer garden at the rear.

Therefore, the impact of the works on the building, and the project’s proposed benefits to the community and local economy, were heavily considered.

The George & Dragon was approached for comment.
