THE manager and owner of a new salon in Colwyn Bay have each been named as finalists at the 2024 Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards.

Zoe Walker (owner) and Tasha Styles (manager), of Strands N Hands on Abergele Road, are both in the running for the same prize – nail technician of the year.

Tasha is nominated for her work with her own separate business, NRG Beauty, which runs withing Strands N Hands alongside being Strands N Hands’ manager.

After being shortlisted following more than 80,000 public votes, they will find out if they have won at a black-tie ceremony at Pafiliwn Llangollen Pavilion on Saturday, May 18.

Strands N Hands is also up for nine prize at the UK version of the same awards, meanwhile.

Both Tasha and Zoe previously worked together at the My Prerogative salon, also in Colwyn Bay.

New Colwyn Bay salon built in weeks opens for business

Colwyn Bay salon up for nine awards just weeks after opening its doors!

Zoe said: “I was thrilled, but I didn’t expect it! it was wonderful – we’ve bought tickets already, to go to the event with each other. I can’t wait.

“We’re going head to head for nail technician of the year, but we’ll be there cheering each other on together.

“I’m absolutely humbled. From being in someone else’s salon, to then opening my own, and then all of this happening… it’s incredible. It just proves to me that I’ve made the right moves.

“We’ve been heaving since opening; there were over 400 clients in at the end of November and into December.

“We’ve been fully booked this month – normally, January is a quiet month, but it’s been madness. My phone doesn’t stop!”

You can vote in the awards yourself by visiting its website.

Strands N Hands is open from 9am to 6pm from Monday to Thursday, and 8am until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards 2024 said:  “We had an outstanding response from the public who went behind our nomination process and put forward tried and tested beauty professionals that deserve recognition.

“The number of 80,000 votes received is just incredible and record breaking for us and, therefore, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to this overwhelming response.

“The awards remark the strength, skill and innovation of those who have shown excellent commitment to customer satisfaction and have changed the industry’s landscape by introducing innovative treatments and services, building extremely close and trusted relationships with their clients.

“We would like to congratulate everyone for being shortlisted and we can’t wait to welcome all our guests and deliver an enjoyable event. We wish all finalists the best of luck.”
