A CARPET and flooring company that supplies Buckingham Palace and other royal residences is celebrating 60 years of business.
Linney Cooper, which is based in Llandudno with a showroom in Rhos-on-Sea, started from humble beginnings in Colwyn Bay in 1964.
The family-run business was founded by Robert Hughes in his basement, supplying residents with bespoke carpets and rugs.
Robert’s sons and nephew joined in 1987 with his youngest grandson Dewi Hughes continuing the family tradition.
Now being led by the third generation of Hughes’, the business has two Royal Warrants from supplying carpets and flooring to Buckingham Palace and many more royal residences.
They only recently moved their base from Craig-y-Don to Rhos-on-Sea.
There has been no limit to the company’s reach over the years, having installed bespoke carpets and flooring across the world and visited more than 30 countries from their Llandudno base.
This was all accomplished while remaining a friendly, close-knit business, with a number of employees still working with the company after 25 years.
Dewi Hughes, managing director, said: “Reaching the 60-year trading landmark is extremely exciting as a small family owned business.
“It is a true testament to all of the staff and employees that have supported Linney Cooper over the last 60 years with their unwavering commitment and service.
“The company has gone through a number of testing times over the years, most recently the global pandemic, but the hard work and commitment of the employees has provided Linney Cooper with a fantastic base to continue to grow and progress into the future.

Between May 1 and 31, customers will receive 20 per cent off rugs, 10 per cent off carpets and Amtico flooring and 50 per cent off new underlay.
